Getting Started as a Worker
Welcome to Otesse. This guide will walk you through everything you need to start earning money on the platform.
What is Otesse?
Otesse is a platform that connects service businesses with independent workers. Companies post jobs for services like cleaning, junk removal, and carpet cleaning. You pick the jobs that fit your schedule and get paid when the work is done.
Think of it like a gig marketplace — but focused on home and commercial services.
Account Types
When you sign up, you create a Contractor account. This means you are an independent worker, not an employee. You choose when and where you work, and you get paid per job.
What You Need
Before you start, make sure you have:
- A smartphone — You will use it to browse and claim jobs, check your schedule, and track your earnings.
- A bank account — Your payouts go directly to your bank through Stripe. You will set this up during onboarding.
- Reliable transportation — You need to get to job sites on your own. Some jobs may be close to you, others farther away. Your travel settings control how far you are willing to go.
Signing Up
- Go to the Otesse website or open the app.
- Choose Sign up as a Worker.
- Enter your name, email, and create a password.
- Verify your email — check your inbox for a confirmation link.
- Log in and you will land on your worker dashboard.
The Onboarding Checklist
After signing up, you will see an onboarding checklist on your dashboard. This walks you through 6 steps to get fully set up:
- Complete your profile — Add your name, phone number, and a short bio.
- Set your availability — Tell us what days and hours you can work.
- Add your bank account — Connect your Stripe account so you can get paid.
- Set your travel preferences — Choose how far you are willing to travel for jobs.
- Upload certifications — If you have any relevant certifications, add them here. This is optional but can help you stand out.
- Browse available jobs — Once the first 5 steps are done, you can start claiming work.
Each step shows a checkmark when it is complete. You cannot browse or claim jobs until you finish the required steps.
