Zone Coverage Areas

The Coverage tab is the most interactive part of zone management. It provides a full-featured map editor for defining exactly where your zone operates.

Map Interface

The coverage map has three main components:

Toolbar

Located above the map with controls for:

  • Add postal codes — Search by ZIP code or city name
  • Draw boundary — Freehand polygon drawing tool
  • Import boundary — Import from boundary data source
  • View options — Toggle postal code markers, boundary fills, labels

A collapsible panel on the left showing:

  • List of all postal codes in this zone
  • Boundary configuration
  • Zone statistics (total area, population estimates)

Map Canvas

The main map area supporting:

  • Zoom and pan
  • Click to select/deselect postal codes
  • Polygon drawing with Mapbox GL Draw
  • Layer toggling (boundaries, markers, other zones)

Adding Postal Codes

Search Method

  1. Click Add Postal Codes in the toolbar
  2. Type a ZIP code, city name, or state code
  3. Select results from the dropdown
  4. Matching postal codes are added to the zone

Map Click Method

  1. Click directly on postal code markers on the map
  2. Clicking an unassigned marker adds it to the zone
  3. Clicking an assigned marker removes it from the zone

Bulk Import

For large zones, import postal codes by state:

  1. Click Import by State
  2. Select a state
  3. All postal codes in that state are added
  4. Refine by removing unwanted codes

Drawing Boundaries

Custom boundaries provide a visual representation of your zone on the map:

  1. Click the Draw tool in the toolbar
  2. Click on the map to place polygon vertices
  3. Close the polygon by clicking the first point
  4. The boundary is saved automatically

Boundaries are visual only — postal code assignments determine actual coverage. Boundaries help with:

  • Visual clarity on the map
  • Customer-facing zone maps
  • Team reference for service area limits

Other Zones Overlay

Toggle the Other Zones layer to see neighboring zones:

  • Other zones appear with dimmed boundaries
  • Zone names are shown as colored labels
  • Click another zone's label to open it in a new tab
  • Helps identify gaps and overlaps in coverage

Fullscreen Mode

Click the fullscreen button (top-right of the map) to expand the map to fill your entire screen. This is especially useful for detailed boundary work. Press Escape or click the button again to exit fullscreen.
