Export & Import

Canvas supports exporting your workflows as images or data files, and importing workflows from external sources.

Exporting

Click the Export button in the canvas toolbar to open the Export Dialog. Choose your format:

  • PNG — A high-resolution image of your entire workflow. Great for presentations, documentation, or sharing in chat.
  • SVG — A scalable vector image that stays crisp at any zoom level. Ideal for print or embedding in documents.
  • JSON — A complete data export of your canvas including all steps, connections, and configurations. This is the format used for backup and transfer between Canvas instances.

Export options:

  • Include background — Toggle whether the canvas background color is included in image exports.
  • Selection only — Export only the currently selected steps instead of the entire canvas.

Importing

Click the Import button to bring workflows into your canvas:

  • From JSON file — Upload a previously exported JSON file to restore a complete workflow.
  • From template — Browse the template gallery and import a template directly into your current canvas (steps are added alongside existing content).

Tips

  • Export as PNG before meetings to have a visual reference that works even without Canvas access.
  • Use JSON export as a backup strategy — export regularly and store the files safely.
  • Importing into an existing canvas adds the new steps alongside your current work. It does not replace anything.
